El marketing es un conjunto de herramientas de análisis, métodos de previsión de ventas, modelos de simulación y estudios de investigación de mercado, que se utilizan para desarrollar un acercamiento prospectivo y más científico al análisis de las necesidades y la demanda. Tales métodos, por lo general complejos y costosos, frecuentemente se consideran accesibles sólo a las grandes empresas, y no a las pequeñas y medianas.
